How much will I earn? $$$

Wage rates vary depending on the employer, the sector (industrial, commercial, institutional [ICI] or residential), the type of work and whether the contractor is union or non-union.

When your masonry employer or sponsor register you as an apprentice with the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development (MAESD), the “Training Agreement” legislation states that you will be paid a minimum of 40% of an employer’s average journeyman wage to start, with the percentage increasing to 60%, 70% and 80% for every 1400 hours worked.

For example, if the average hourly wage in the company for a journeyman is $30, you will receive 40% of that figure.
