Employer Signing Bonus

The $2,000 Employment Signing Bonus encourages employers in the trades to register new apprentices in sectors where there is a high demand for skilled workers. This initiative will assist employers to hire and register apprentices who have left school and require upgrading to meet the registration standards for apprenticeship trainings

Ontario Apprenticeship Training Tax Credit (OATTC)

A refundable tax credit available to employers who hire and train apprentices in certain skilled trades.

The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) administers the program on behalf of Ontario through the federal income tax system.

The Benefit:
The ATTC is based on salaries and wages paid to an apprentice. The  maximum credit for each apprenticeship is $10,000 per year.
The maximum credit over the first 48-month period of the apprenticeship is $40,000.

Apprenticeship Job Creation Tax Credit (AJCTC)

This is a non-refundable tax credit equal to 10% of the eligible salaries and wages payable to eligible apprentices in respect of employment after May 1, 2006.

The maximum credit an employer can claim is $2,000 per year for each eligible apprentice. If your business hires an "eligible apprentice", you qualify to claim the credit.

Apprenticeship Completion Employer Bonus

Employers are eligible to receive a $1000 Apprenticeship Completion Employer Bonus  for each apprentice they hire and train and completes his or her apprenticeship training - receiving a Certificate of Apprenticeship and where, applicable, a Certificate of Qualification. This is a taxable cash grant.

Pre-Apprenticeship Work Placement Subsidy

Students who attend our Pre-Apprentice program need to complete a minimum of 8 weeks to a maximum of 12 weeks (or 280 - 420 hours) work placement. Employers/Contractors who participate and hire a student will receive government subsidy of up to $1950 per student.

Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP)

Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) is a School to Work program that opens the door for students to explore and work in apprenticeship occupations starting in Grade 11 or Grade 12 through the Cooperative Education program.

OMTC participates in this program and will need assistance in finding the students a CO-OP job placement in the trade. If you are an interested employer willing to take on an OYAP Student, please contact our office.
