Support to Non-Employment Insurance (EI) Eligible Apprentices During In-School Training

This initiative will provide up to $1500 of taxable financial supports for apprentices who are not eligible for federal Employment Insurance (EI) who attend full time in-school training at a Delivery Agency approved by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU).

Apprenticeship Incentive Grant (AIG)

A taxable cash grant of $1,000 per year, up to a maximum of $2,000 per person, available to registered apprentices once they have successfully completed their first or second year/level (or equivalent) of an apprenticeship program in one of the Red Seal trades.

Apprenticeship Completion Grant (ACG)

A taxable cash grant of $2,000 designed to encourage apprentices registered in a designated Red Seal trade to complete their apprenticeship program and receive their certification. Eligibility is retroactive to January 1, 2009.

The completion grant will be offered to apprentices who complete their training, become certified journeymen/journeywomen in a designated Red Seal trade and who obtain either the Red Seal endorsement or a provincial or territorial Certificate of Qualification.

OMTC Carhartt Jacket

OMTC apprentices who submit proof from the Ministry of Training, Colleges and  Universities (MTCU) that they have passed the Red Seal (Inter-Provincial) Certificate of Qualification exam for Brick & Stone Masons, may be eligible to receive a Carhartt jacket ($400 value) embroidered with the OMTC and Red Seal logo at our next “Red Seal Jacket” function.
